Bridge School Benefit Concert
Another birthday, another concert.
this year was amazing.
It started off as it does every year, Peggy Young comes out and says thank you for coming, introduces the kids, and then introduces Neil, who then comes out and plays a few songs. then the concert starts.
I don't really remember the opening act. The Bridge is what he called them. i thought that was kinda cool. Anyways, then this guy and girl came (i'm being lazy i could go look on my program) her name was gillian something-or-another. she was really good. like reallllllly good. then the violinist from the foo fighters came out and the three of them sang a song a'capella which was breathtaking. absolutly gorgous. I want to say Death Cab for Cutie was up next...and i'm right. Okay, these guys are amazing. I've never really heard them before, but Ivory talks about them all the time. The lead singer comes out... and he kinda looks familiar so I asked Ivory who he was.... the lead singer of the Postal Service. Ah, I knew then that I was going to LOVE Death Cab. and i did. I'm actually listening to them right now. Ivory's cd. I stoleded it. (we decided that if you add ed to anything it makes it sound more i importatnted....lol) So Death Cab played their set, and then this string quartet came on stage, i was a little confused at first, i thought maybe they were going to play in between acts or something. but then Trent Reznor came on (lead singer of Nine Inch Nails) and sat at a piano. That was an amazing set with Trent and the strings. He's wonderful. After Trent was Foo Fighters. I love the Foo Fighters to begin with, but seeing them live made me fall even more in love with them. They are so talented. And they sang a Grahm Nash song, and Neil came out and played with them. It was a fun set. Speaking of FUN..... Brian Wilson. OMG. If you EVER get a chance to see him in concert go. i'm not kidding. Penelope, Ivory and I were up dancing for the ENTIRE SET. then my necklace broke and we attempted to find my charm in the dark.... which we did find it (thank god) but in all seriousness. Brian Wilson= FUN! (fun fun... which he sang... my favorite Beach Boys song!) My new favorite band of all time was up next. Not only is the lead singer HOT beyond belief, but his voice is so damn sexy that it brought tears to my eyes lasnight. maybe it was just his presence. i don't know. but Pearl Jam rocked the house. My second time seeing Eddie Vedder live. the first time was just as magical as the second. or the second was just at magical as the first? Anyways, you get the picture. Eddie Vedder *swoon*. after Pearl Jam, DMB set up. I've never seen DMB live before. WOW. The Violinest was AMAZING. He knew how to rock that violin like whoa. DANG! he was wonderful. We left after DMB though. Ivory had to wake up early, and it was already 1030 by that time. and the concert had started at 2. and i figured, i've seen Neil in concert before, and i'll most likely be back next year, so we left.
There were so many crazy stoned, drunk people, that the dancing was deffently something to comment on. There was this chick during Trent that was standing up during the first two songs getting into the music. she deffently had her own style of dancing. there was a lasso in there. and there were these "praise jesus" moves too. we were thinking that maybe Trent was her god. Then she sat down.... stood up... sat down.... stood...nope, she's sitting again... over and over duing the rest of the set. it was like "Hmm, do i know this song, no...... i'm going to sit down....but it's trent.... i should stand...na, i'll sit" was going though her head. the people in front of us and behind us, and us were all making fun of her. it was really amuzing. Oh, also during the Trent set.... there were these 3 boys behind us. You know how the ultimate insult to a guy is "You *blank* like a gilr"... well these guys screemed like 5 year old girls. omg. We wanted to throw something at them. they were NIN fans though, but still... it was really annoying. there were so many crazy dancing people there. it was amazing. Dancing Hippies. OHOH OH... speaking of hippies. there were these people sitting (sorry for the stage directions) downstage-right from us who smoked their shitty weed at least twice a performer. towards the end of the night when they were lighting up again, i turn to ivory "do you know how many times they've lit up?" we guessed about 16-19 times in 8 hours. thats hecka hard core hippie right there.
anyways. I'll leave you here. have a wonderful day
